

Valentine’s Day is coming, so I made heart cookies to impress… myself 🫠🫶 But seriously, they’re buttery, soft, and just sweet enough to make you forget about the mess in the kitchen.
These heart and envelope-shaped sugar cookies are your Valentine’s Day answer to “what should I bake that looks cute but isn’t stressful?” The dough is simple with a cozy cardamom twist, and the frosting? Foolproof, with just enough red to feel festive enough 💌💘



For the sugar cookie:
- 113 butter, room temperature
- 2 dl | 1 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3,5 dl | 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
For the frosting:
- 1 large egg white
- 4 dl | 2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp vanilla
- red food coloring ( preferably gel not water based)



Directions
- Start by combining the sugar and butter until smooth and pale.
- Add the egg and combine.
- Then add all dry ingredients, mix until a dough is formed.
- Place the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 min.
- Then roll out the dough and cut out the shapes, carefully transfer on baking sheet.
- Bake on 185 c or 350 f for 15 min.
- Take out and let cool completely.
- For the frosting, combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix with an electric mixer.
- Set aside 1/4 cup and color red.
- Decorate!!!
