Ingredients
- 3 dl (300 g) Turkish or Greek yogurt
- 4.2 dl (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- 1 fresh jalapeño (half finely chopped into the dough, the rest sliced for topping)
- Grated cheddar cheese (to taste)
- 1 egg + a splash of water, for brushing (optional)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C / 390°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add chopped jalapeño, grated cheddar, and yogurt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead lightly until the dough is smooth and not sticky. Add a little flour if needed.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each into a ball, then poke a hole in the center using the back of a spoon and gently shape into bagels.
- Place on the baking tray. Brush with egg wash if using, then top with extra cheddar and jalapeño slices.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden and fluffy.
