Ingredients

  • 3 dl (300 g) Turkish or Greek yogurt
  • 4.2 dl (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 fresh jalapeño (half finely chopped into the dough, the rest sliced for topping)
  • Grated cheddar cheese (to taste)
  • 1 egg + a splash of water, for brushing (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C / 390°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add chopped jalapeño, grated cheddar, and yogurt. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead lightly until the dough is smooth and not sticky. Add a little flour if needed.
  5. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each into a ball, then poke a hole in the center using the back of a spoon and gently shape into bagels.
  6. Place on the baking tray. Brush with egg wash if using, then top with extra cheddar and jalapeño slices.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden and fluffy.
  8. Let cool slightly (if you can), then enjoy!
